Pasadena voters have already approved multiple tax and bond measures for the city and school district since 2020.
Now City Hall wants another parcel tax, pushing the total cost to more than $1,700 per household in new taxes in the last five years.

Pasadena’s firefighters, police, and paramedics do essential work. They deserve the resources to keep our city safe.
But Measure PFD would add a tax based on the size of improved property. All Pasadena residents, businesses, and tourists rely on public safety. The city’s leaders need to develop a funding plan that shares the cost more broadly.

Another bill
lands at home.
For 1,600 taxable square feet, Measure PFD adds $304 a year. Over 14 years, that comes to $4,256 before any exemption.
Rental housing is included, too. At the proposed rate, 20,000 taxable square feet would mean $3,800 a year for a building’s owner.
Housing that’s affordable is a top concern. This tax measure makes housing less affordable for Pasadena residents struggling to make ends meet.
